About Patron: Features
Measure library use
Patron measures library use by four indicators:
1) Patrons : the number of patrons with library cards.
2) Checkouts : the number of items checked out.
3) Gatecount : the number of patrons visiting the library each day.
4) Programs : the number of patrons attending a variety of library programs.
Data
We provide the geographic data and Census 2000 data. You provide all the library's data including patrons, checkouts, gatecounts, and program attendance.
ILS vendors
Data is extracted from your ILS. We have worked with all of the ILS vendors TLC, Polaris, SIRSI/Dynix, and Innovative Interfaces. We know the ins and outs of data gathering and can work with library staff to 1) quickly and effectively obtain the information we need to prepare the reports; and 2) tailor the quarterly reports to the available data.
Measuring library use over time
Patron is a feedback tool that enables you to chart the progress of improvements.
Customization
While the quarterly reports have a standard format, we can tailor them to meet your individual needs. For example, this includes adjusting age groups and setting up categories for program attendance.
Quarterly turnaround
We prepare the quarterly report within two weeks of receiving the previous quarters data from your library.
Startup
We will set up the base maps and work closely with staff to obtain data from your ILS. Once we receive your complete first batch of data, it will take us two to three weeks to prepare the baseline report.
Format and delivery
The quarterly report format is in color at 8-1/2" x 11“. Digital files are saved in pdf format on a CD-ROM mailed to you. In addition, we post the pdf files on a private page on our website so library staff can view them online and conveniently download them.
Review meetings
Upon delivery, we hold a web conference with library staff to review the maps and tables and discuss findings and results, including the implications for library service.
